Hibiscus it is! it is the national flower of Kuala Lumpur and you will realize this once you are on the streets
Things to do in Kuala Lumpur will cover the following:

Kuala Lumpur’s Currency
Kuala Lumpur’s currency is called RINGGIT. It is denoted as MYR or RM. You get good exchange rates in China town.
Kuala Lumpur Attractions
1. Genting Highlands
You need at least 2 days here, can’t be less but more is quite a possibility.
I found this to be the best part of Kuala Lumpur. You reach the island through a cable car. The pronunciation is ‘Gen-ting’ some people call it ‘Gun-ting’ as well.
There are many hotels for you to choose from but the best one to choose is FIRST WORLD RESORT, hands down. You will notice why after checking out the pics below. You will find a complete city in the resort, from an amusement park to shopping brands like Diesel, from Casino to “believe it or not“.. If you missed Genting then you haven’t visited Malaysia.
Inside the resort, there are multiple entertainments sources like shows and rides. If you look at all the images, you will see the kind of fun awaits you..,
The Casino story
I was 20 when I visited Kuala Lumpur and you should be at least 21 years old to enter the casino. All my focus was on how to enter the casino, I saw that the bodyguards at the entrance were not checking the IDs. This gave wings to my wishes and I flew with it towards the casino but suddenly my dream broke and to my shock, I was stopped and asked to show my ID. I was baffled, why out of all was I stopped? as if there were age detecting sensors near the gates. Well, I was denied entrance but I didn’t give up. I knew there were 3 more entrances, so I went to the loo, wore a lot of make-up, in order to look more mature, and tried again. And again I was denied. I was really confused what made me look so different from other girls that only I was repeatedly being asked for the ID and nobody else.
After a while, I realized that I was not wearing lipstick, I was not sure whether it will help me or not but I tried again and this was my last chance. To my surprise, the lipstick worked. I successfully entered the casino.
I had a good and profitable experience at the casino in Venetian, Macau so I was hoping the same this time but the luck didn’t support and I couldn’t win but I really enjoyed. :D.
The Stalls in the resort
Here you can get your name engraved on a wooden comb.. they claim that the comb is really good for hair growth. I also bought one and I cannot say that maipehlebohatdukhirahakarti ti but aj mere pass ye comb hai jisse mere baallambeaurghane hai…lol!(I cannot say that I was really upset but after getting the comb I have hair like Rapunzel)
I adored a dog shaped keychain, it was unique and craftsmanship was really fine. They offered it for 20 RM with a free name engraved on it. Now, that was a problem, who wants their name on a dog shaped keychain..hahha.. so I offered them 15 RM and requested to leave the engraving and they agreed! It was a relief you know…
Time for some selfies
If you love taking selfies then this is it. This place is your dreamland. Just check out the below images and you will understand what I am trying to say.
This is not it, this place has a huge amusement park as well. You will find a ton of fun games and rides. The games attract you with amazingly cute teddy bears and stuff toys.
Amusement Park
I tried to get this big white bear but all I got was these and a couple of more.. 😀
The happiest person on losing the big bear was my mom because she could not imagine how will we carry it back to
2. Sunway Lagoon
This image shows the entrance to the park.
In the park you can enjoy a variety of shows, rides, water park and you can also meet n great cute little animals and birds… Actually, this park is divided into 5 parts – water park, amusement park, wildlife, extreme and scream park. So, there is something or the other for everyone.
This is the image from the scream park.. haha… I was really afraid to enter the dungeon then. Also, these adorable zombies were standing outside to make people like me more comfortable.
The Wildlife Park
This is the entrance to the Wildlife Park, it has a black panther, not easily seen in such parks around the world.
This is especially for those people who are afraid of lizards.. how will you handle this baby! I wonder if its tail will also regrow upon being detached from the body or not…
The wildlife in Malaysia is amazing, you just can’t get enough of it. Check out more Malaysian wildlife here…
The Water Park
The water park has a place for surfing and also has a big swimming pool..this is my pretty mom enjoying the drizzle. On the other side of the swimming pool, there are food stalls. I still remember the yummy salted fries that we had that day. Along with the pool, you can notice beautiful waterfalls that complemented the entire area very much.
This is the huge water ride nearby the pool.
This is not all while you are at Genting Highlands, why not travel further towards the East coast where you can enjoy Sungai Pandan Waterfall. Know all about it here! Don’t miss it, it is really beautiful.
3. Batu Caves
Yes, even people in Kuala Lumpur practices Hinduism but only 7% (approx), major religion there is Islam. So you will get to see many Hindu temples when you are in Kuala Lumpur. This is Batu Caves, where you will find a huge statue of Lord Shiva.
Notice the stairs beside the statue, once you reach the top you will see a beautiful cave and a birds-eye view of the city. It is usually covered in the city tour and it is okay to miss the attraction if you are running against time.
4. Kuala Lumpur Tower
Like every country, Kuala Lumpur also has an observatory deck but not only one, it has two.
KL tower and Petronas twin towers.
This is the entrance to Kuala Lumpur Tower.
It looks really beautiful and especially at night. Like I have always said that right time to visit an observatory is in the evening just before dark so that one can enjoy both types of views, with and without sunlight.
Here you get two decks to choose from and I was not aware of the second option during my visit, otherwise, I would have definitely not missed it..poor me…The second option is the SKY deck + observatory deck..421 m above the ground level.. It sounds amazing and you must try it out.
Please book your tickets in advance and online through the official site. The price for the second option is approx 105 Ringgit for international visitors.
These are the images from the observatory…Check out the Petronas twin towers. Seeing one observatory from another.
5. Petronas Towers
Usually, Kuala Lumpur tower is preferred to twin towers. Your guide will only take you near the towers and ask you to click pictures. It looks really pretty, especially, at night.
The towers have two observatories, 1st at 41st floor, 42nd floor and 2nd at 86th floor.
It has the world’s highest double story bridge at 41st and 42nd floor. You can see the bridge in the picture as well. From here you change the lift for the 86th floor if you opt for it.
6. Chocolate Boutique
There is this chocolate boutique where we can see amazing structures built from chocolates. Some good quality cocoa was also available here.
If you find that then do drop me a message with its name…Apart from this, I found spoon-shaped chocolates at the airport. It was in a sky blue box and were really yummy. I don’t remember the company’s name nor do I have any picture of it.
Shopping in Kuala Lumpur
1. Pavillion Mall
2. Berjaya Times Square
Where to stay in Kuala Lumpur
There are many cafes there, you should check out Freeka Coffee Roaster. The menu is very extensive and it has vegetarian options as well. The cafe is pretty and the desserts are really yum. The cafe can be a little tricky to locate but just stick to google maps and your search will be worth it.
Indian Restaurants in Kuala Lumpur
There are many Indian restaurants all over Kuala Lumpur and especially in Bukit Bintang.
You can try the cuisine at
– Spice of India
– Royal India Pavilion: It is in the Pavilion mall on the 6th floor. And, before I say bye I would like to help you further through the following blog. You are welcome!
Like it? then save it for later…

I am glad you liked it. Thanx for reading it?
I’ve travelled a lot in SEA but I still haven’t been to KL. Your post is full of awesome suggestions, thanks for sharing.
Thank you Severina??
It seems you have covered most of the main tourist attractions in KL. I hope you enjoyed the food too! A big part of Malaysia tourism is all about the food! The next time you visit Malaysia, you should make a trip to Penang or Melaka, or better my hometown Borneo!
I did and i haven’t tried a lot of food as I am vegetarian so had limited options. I will definitely visit all the suggested places and may be we can catch up as well..??
