BBC said it right, Indians are still obsessed with the show and I say why not? If we are still not over Sholay then this American series is still very young. From the very vast fan base of the show, one of the fans was so inspired by the series that she decided not to let go of her love. She joined hands with another man and started her own Central Perk cafe!
I am talking here about the two founders, Mr. Ajit Kumar & Ms. Aarushi Singla, of the famous “Central Perk – bar & lounge” in Hudson lane, North Delhi. They both share an immense love for the series and they just couldn’t stop themselves from living their dream. According to the sources, after the huge success of the cafe, they are now all set to open a huge branch of this in Jaipur.
Lately, I visited this cafe to pamper my love for the series and I was overwhelmed by the unique drinks, delicious dishes named after the loved characters and the iconic orange sofa.
Did you know: “The iconic orange couch used in the show was actually found in the basement of Warner Bros Studios”
This cafe has not only been attracting the fans of the series but also the media since its very beginning in January 2017. The founders made sure that the people spending time in the cafe are hit by nostalgia, you will see many walls decorated by the posters and frames depicting the famous scenes from the show.
This is more than a cafe, it is also a bar where you can party till you drop and celebrate your special occasions with your loved ones. The best part is that the entire team is absolutely wonderful with the decorations and they take care of all the things that could make you happy.
The menu consists of Chinese, Italian, and North Indian cuisines. It is designed carefully by the expert chefs and the founders. Not only the food but also the drinks are unique and worth trying.
The highlights of the menu are the dishes named after the characters of the show. Obviously the dishes cannot portray the traits of their characters but definitely, you will find some similarity in the names and I love all the names, such relatable dishes like Pizza and Joey, Ross and a sandwich, Racheal and a Green salad, Chandler and the traditional feast… Just check out all the items.
- Racheal “GREEN” Salad
The one with nachos, corn, cucumber, pickle, lettuce, baby corn, bell pepper, zucchini with some cheese.
- Chandler’s Traditional holiday feast
The one with the fried crispy vegetables tossed in Beijing sauce with a twist of smokey flavor. (This is one of my personal favorites.)
- Joey special pizza
Baked pizza made of two thin crusts filled with cheese and topped with onion, bell peppers
- Ross special sandwich
It’s not just a sandwich! Cottage cheese and bell peppers tossed in perfect seasonings and grilled with cheese.
- Monica’s Bunwich
Buns packed with perfect mushroom mix, baked with mozzarella cheese and served with fries on the side.
- Pheobe crusher
A drink as weird as Pheobe – a lemonade mixed with blue curacao and strawberry
The menu doesn’t end here, there are so many delicious things that you can visit the cafe for weeks daily and keep on trying different things on every visit. Go through the entire menu here.

During my visit, I was sure that I want to taste all the dishes named after the characters, so I took a couple of friends along and had it all… My top picks are Chandler’s traditional holiday feast(veg), Joey special pizza and Malabar mojito.
Well, I am excited to visit again as I really want to try the cucumber crusher and a lot of other things on the menu.
